A: The Mad Dash ticket program offers rodeo fans an opportunity to purchase a balcony ticket for a sold out performance. These can be purchased directly from the Thomas and Mack Center Box Office, by calling UNLV Tickets or visiting their website at www.UNLVTickets.com.

These tickets allow the bearer entrance onto the concourse. The bearer may then locate an open seat in the BALCONY AREA ONLY or watch the live action on large video screens in the Cowboy Corral (Cox Pavilion) or The ‘Shoe. The bearer may sit in any open balcony seat unless the original ticket holder claims that seat.

If within 30 minutes after the rodeo starts, you are unable to find an open balcony seat, you may continue to view the rodeo from the Cowboy Corral or The ‘Shoe or your money will be refunded at the Thomas and Mack Center Box Office, less processing fees. Refunds end promptly at 7:15pm PT every performance.

Q: At what age does a child require a ticket?
A: Children of the age three (3) and younger do not require a ticket provided the child is capable of sitting on the parent or guardian’s lap.

Q: What if my NFR Tickets Were Lost or Destroyed, am I still able to attend the event?
A: In the event something has happened to your NFR Tickets, Las Vegas Events may reprint your ticket(s) if you purchased through Las Vegas Events, UNLV Tickets or StubHub and have not transferred your tickets.. In order for a ticket to be reprinted, the Account Holder must contact the Las Vegas Events Ticket Office and fill out the NFR Ticket Reprint Form below. There is a charge for the reprint of NFR Tickets.

Q: How can I avoid ticket fraud?
A: The best way to avoid ticket fraud is to purchase through an approved distributor: Las Vegas Events, UNLV Tickets or StubHub. Assistance can only be provided to those who purchase directly through these outlets. Do not buy through a scalper.

Season Ticket Holder Information

Q: When is the Season Ticket Renewal Period?

A: The ticket renewal period is held between February and April of every year. Invoices are mailed out the end of February with an April due date. If you do not receive your NFR Ticket Invoice by the middle of March please contact the Las Vegas Events Ticket Office. Season Tickets are NOT an automatic renewal; it is the ticket holders’ responsibility to contact the LVE ticket office should they not receive their invoice.

Q: When do tickets get mailed out?

A: Tickets are mailed out in the beginning of October every year. If you do not receive your tickets by October 14th please contact the Las Vegas Events Ticket Office immediately.

Q: How are Season Tickets mailed?

A: Season Tickets are mailed out via FedEx. However, if your current address on file with the Las Vegas Events Ticket Office is a P.O. Box, tickets will be mailed via the United States Postal Service. Canadian accounts will be mailed via USPS. When tickets are shipped there is no signature required. Once your shipment is prepared, you will receive an email with your tracking number.

Q: What is the NFR Ticket Policy?

A: The NFR Ticket Policy is a detailed explanation of all NFR Ticketing policies and procedures. The Ticket Policy also includes both the “Change of Information Form” and “Transfer & Will Form.” If you have any questions regarding the NFR Ticket Policy, please contact the Las Vegas Events Ticket Office.

Q: How do I update my season ticket account address and contact information?

A: In order to update a season ticket account, the account holder(s) of record must complete and sign the Change of Information (COI) Form. All listed account holders of record must complete and sign a COI Form in order for it to be accepted by Las Vegas Events. A maximum of two (2) account holders of record is permitted per season ticket account. If there is only one account holder of record and you wish to add an immediate family member, defined as a living spouse or child per the NFR Ticket Policy, you may do so by completing the specified portion of the COI form. Las Vegas Events’ preferred method of communication is via email. Please make sure to have the most current email listed on the account so you don’t miss important notifications. The deadline to update your address in time for the ticket shipment is August 1st.

Q: Who may I Transfer or Will my NFR Season Tickets to?

A: NFR tickets may only be transferred or willed to immediate family members. This policy also applies to adding a second name as an account holder of record. An immediate family member is defined as a living spouse or child per the NFR Ticket Policy. There is a maximum of two (2) people who may be listed as account holders of record at any one time.

Q: What is the difference between Transferring and Willing my NFR Season Tickets?

A: When NFR season tickets are being transferred, the Account Holder(s) of record release all rights to their tickets effective immediately upon the LVE ticket office receiving the proper documentation. When NFR season tickets are being Willed, the Account Holder(s) of record are designating who shall take over the account should something happen to the Account Holder(s) of record. A Will/Living Will is not required in order to Will your NFR tickets through the LVE ticket office. In both transferring and willing NFR season tickets, the person taking control of the account must be an immediate family member (spouse or child). All listed account holders of record must complete and sign the Transfer & Will Form in order for it to be accepted by Las Vegas Events.

Why did the Wrangler NFR adopt a clear bag policy?

In order to enhance public safety and make venue access more efficient, the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo has adopted a Clear Bag Policy. Fans may bring in one (1) clear bag no larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″ or a 1-gallon plastic storage bag. Fans are limited to one clear bag per person, along with a small clutch bag (no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″) for privacy. Please refer to the pictures above for the approved and non-approved bags.

How many bags can each person bring into the venue?

Each ticketed guest can carry one (1) clear bag – either a one-gallon Ziploc-style bag or the 12″ x 6″ x 12″ clear bag – plus a small clutch purse (no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″). The small clutch allows privacy for small personal items.

What happens if I show up at the gate with a bag that is not permitted?

Guests carrying a prohibited bag will not be permitted inside the venue. Fans with prohibited bags will either need to return their bags to their vehicle and transfer their belongings to an approved clear plastic bag or check their bags at the WNFR Check-In location at the Mendenhall Center lobby. Signage will direct you to the Check-In location.

If I have certain medical items that I need to bring into the venue and they won’t fit in the clear bag, what do I do?

Guests carrying medically necessary bags or equipment will be required to have their bag thoroughly inspected by security before entrance will be permitted.

What is the policy for diaper bags?

Guests with babies carrying a diaper bag will be required to have their bag thoroughly inspected by security before entrance will be permitted.

What if I purchase official WNFR merchandise on site at the Thomas & Mack Center, can I bring these items into the venue?

Yes. There is an official Wrangler NFR merchandise Clear Bag (20” x 20” size) that is approved for admission into the venue. These approved bags can be brought in by the ticket holder in addition to their approved personal clear bag and/or clutch. All merchandise bags will be required to be thoroughly inspected by security before entrance will be permitted.

Are all purses prohibited?

No. Small clutch purses (no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″) are permitted along with either the 12″ by 6″ by 12″ clear tote bag or one-gallon freezer bag. This should enable guests to carry in personal items and expedite entry into the venue.

How does this make it more convenient for fans?

This process will enable staff to move fans through our check-points much faster allowing staff to be more efficient and effective in checking clear bags brought into the arena. There will be less time spent standing in lines at the venue entrances enabling fans to be in their seats well before the opening ceremonies. Fans also will enjoy an improved sense of safety.

• Once logged into your My Account, select Buy or Sell NFR Tickets via StubHub.
• Choose the tickets you would like to post for resale.
• Follow the steps on StubHub to set your price and post your tickets.
• You will receive the money for your tickets directly from StubHub via the method you have chosen.
• These sales are subject to StubHub terms and conditions and resale fee structure.
• Until such time that your posted tickets are purchased you can choose to delist (remove your tickets from sale).
• Once your ticket is resold on StubHub, it will be removed from your account and the barcode on the original printed souvenir ticket will be invalidated. It is imperative that you destroy or secure any original printed souvenir ticket that has been resold via this integrated process as they are no longer good for admission to the event.
• The purchaser of the tickets you have resold will receive newly created digital tickets directly from StubHub with a newly assigned barcode that will be valid for admission. Your printed souvenir tickets are no longer valid, and you no longer have control of them.
• Tickets sold or bought through any other non-sanctioned agency are not a part of this official integrated validation process and may not be valid for entry. Buyer beware.

Q: What if I listed my ticket(s) directly on StubHub.com prior to the My Account setup?
A: If you listed your ticket(s) for sale On StubHub directly through their website, you would have received a notification that you will need to return and manually input the barcode in order for the sale to be complete. Once you receive your printed souvenir ticket, you will log into your StubHub account and type in the barcode associated with the ticket you sold for the NFR performance.

Q: Why should I use StubHub instead of other secondary market sites to list my tickets for resale.
A: Your Season Ticket Holder account is the safest and most convenient way to list tickets. The NFR ticketing and StubHub systems are now integrated. A verified ticket will be delivered to the purchaser with no effort on your part. You no longer have to mail or meet the purchaser to deliver a printed souvenir ticket. Remember, that once a purchase is completed, the barcode on your original printed souvenir ticket is no longer valid for admission.

Q: Are there fees associated with posting tickets on StubHub?
A: Yes, your ticket resale is subject to the StubHub terms and conditions and fee structure. You will see that information as you post your tickets.

Q: How do I get paid for tickets that I sell via StubHub?
A: You will get paid directly from StubHub using the method of payment you select on their system.

Q: If I post my tickets for sale on StubHub and I change my mind or the tickets don’t sell, what happens?
A: You may “take down” or delist your tickets at any time up until a buyer purchases them. Once they are purchased the sale is final and your original tickets, printed souvenir or mobile, are no longer valid. If your tickets do not sell, they will be taken off sale at the start of the event.

Q: What should I do with my original printed souvenir ticket once a sale goes through on StubHub?
A: The original printed souvenir ticket is no longer valid once the sale goes through. It is incumbent upon you to keep track of your own ticket usage and to secure your printed souvenir tickets safely. Be certain not to distribute any of the original printed souvenir tickets if you have successfully sold that ticket on StubHub. The original printed souvenir tickets are no longer valid and should be destroyed or secured.

Brief History of National Final Rodeo

The PRCA first started the event in 1958 to determine the world champion in seven different rodeo events, namely; steer wrestling, tie-down roping, bull riding, bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, and team roping. The event was first held in Dallas, Texas from 1959 until 1961. The event was then hosted in Los Angeles, California from 1962 to 1964. Oklahoma bid to be the host for the 1965 event. An estimated number of 47,000 fans came to the State Fair Arena bringing the state of Oklahoma an annual revenue of $8 million dollars per annum, the event was held there for 6 years before Las Vegas won the bid in 1984. Oklahoma tried to re-bid for the event, but they always came second to Las Vegas.

What are the Events at The National Final Rodeo 2019 will Perform?

There are a total of 7 events at the National Final Rodeo, each of the events is guided by a set of rules and regulations made by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and have been duly noted by the judges hired to evaluate the event.

The events are listed as follows:

Bareback Bronc Riding

The event is evaluated based on the rider and bucking horse’s performance. It is a single-handhold, 8 second right where the cowboy’s feet are positioned over the horse’s shoulder. Points are earned by maintaining upper body control in motion with the horse’s movement. In order for the rider to stay on the horse, PRCA requires the use of a leather rigging which is secured with a cinch on the horse’s withers.

According to various participants, bareback bronc riding is one of the most physically straining events in the National Final Rodeo 2018. Riders under this category are more prone to serious injuries.

Steer Wrestling

Formerly known as “Bulldogging”, Steer Wrestling is when the cowboy catches a 600-pound steer from a running horse. In order to stop the steer, the cowboy must catch it behind the horns and wrestle it to the ground, then tie it up with all four legs and head facing the same direction. The cowboy is assisted by a “hazer”, a rider situated on the right side of the steer, he is responsible for keeping the animal on track during the run.

The current world record in steer wrestling is 2.4 seconds making this particular event focused on strength and speed. Balance and timing is also a big factor in this event. The cowboy must know when to dismount and latch onto the steer.

Team Roping

Team roping, in particular, is the only rodeo event that showcases two contestants at the same time. The team is composed of a header and heeler. This event requires a great amount of teamwork and cooperation from both riders and their horses.

Header

The header makes the first move by roping the steer. This is done in three legal catches: both horns, one horn, and the head, around the neck. Any catch other than these is considered illegal which would automatically disqualify the team from the event. Once the catch has been made, the header moves the steer towards his partner to complete the second phase of the event. A 10-second penalty would be placed should the header not allow the steer to get a head start.

Heeler

The heeler is responsible for roping the hind legs of the steer as soon as the header leads the animal towards him. If only one limb is caught, a 5-second penalty is placed.

Horses that are used in this event are different from the other ones used in the rodeo. Ropers, in general, prefer to use the American quarter horse, which particularly excels in sprinting short distances. Heading horses are relatively tall and heavier, whereas helling horses are quick and limber.

Saddle Bronc Riding

The Saddle Bronc riding is one of the classic events of the National Rodeo Final. It is an 8-second right that is evaluated similarly to the Bareback Bronc Riding just with stricter criteria. Dropping the reign or losing the stirrup is grounds for disqualification. Like the Bareback Bronc Riding event, the judges score both rider and horse.

In this event, the cowboy’s movement must be synchronized that of the horse. The very objective of this event is to achieve a rhythmic motion during the ride itself.

The horses in both events are different, Saddle Bronc horses are heavier and slower to that of a Bareback Bronc.

Tie-Down Roping

Also known as “calf roping”, this event features a calf and a cowboy mounted on a horse. Similar to Steer wrestling, the ultimate goal of this event is for the rider to catch the calf around the neck with a rope and tie its legs together in the shortest time possible.

Speed and proper timing are highly essential for this event. The cowboy must know when to strike right after the calf has left the chute. The calf is given a head start before the rider can proceed with the roping. Should the rider not follow the cue, a 10-second penalty will be imposed.

Steer Roping

For this performance, a cowboy mounted on a medium-built horse catches a steer in the same manner of Tie-Down Roping or Steer Wrestling. However, in this event, a thinner rope is attached to the steer’s neck before it is released from the chute. The roper must then catch or trip the steer after the head start and dismount his horse in order to tie down three legs of the steer. A 10-second penalty will be imposed should the roper not follow the cue given after the steer is released from holding. The event is also called “Steer Tripping” or “Steer Jerking”.

Bull Riding

Bull Riding is ultimately one of the most dangerous events. The performance consists of a cowboy mounting a 2,000-pound bull with only one hand on the reign. The cowboy is supposed to last the 8-second ride without touching himself or the bull with his free hand.

Bull riders, in particular, are expected to be agile, quick and strong. A good sense of balance, flexibility and physical strength is what helps them last the 8-second ride. Judges evaluate the riding strength of the cowboy as well as the bucking qualities of the bull.

In cases where the bull rider is less than 150 pounds, a braided rope is placed around the bull and is looped behind its shoulder blades.

What is the Prize Money of National Final Rodeo 2020?

The annual event attracts hundreds of competitors because of the huge cash payout. The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association has already given out $172 million over the past 59 years. On their 60th year running, participants and spectators alike are excited about the budget set for this year’s National Final Rodeo.

The total prize money has increased to an estimated amount of $6.4 million in 2014, almost doubling the amount it initially started with. On average $50,000 is given per winner at each event. According to National Finals Rodeo participants, they can win more money at a single event at the NFR compared to participating at other rodeo shows for an entire season. The largest payout given by the NFR was to Sage Kimzey who won $174,466 in 2014 for his spectacular performance in a bull riding event.
